Frank R. Heckl, MD
Dr. Heckl is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopy at New Mexico Orthopaedics. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. A fellowship is the highest level of training available to a specialized physician in the United States.
Dr. Heckl is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. During the Summer Olympic Games in 1984, he worked as a physician volunteer. He has also served as a team physician for the USA National Swimming Team at the Drug Offensive International Swimming Championships in Australia and for the USA Swim Team at the Goodwill Games in Seattle. Dr. Heckl is involved in the Sports Medicine Committee of the Greater Albuquerque Medical Association, and he served on the New Mexico Governor's Council on Physical Fitness from 1988 to 1991. Before joining New Mexico Orthopaedics in 1986, Dr. Heckl practiced with Albuquerque Orthopaedic Associates.
